Confession Wednesday

Now that I have two opposing marathon training schedules from my running group (and they haven’t returned TWO of my emails about it), I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. So last night, I just made up shit.

Speed run when like this:

Mile/Distance Pace Incline
1 10:00 warm up .5
800  (1/2 mile) 8:49 .5
200 Walk .5
800 9:05 .5
200 Walk .5
800 9:05 .5
200 10:21 .5
800 9:05 .5
200 10:21 .5
400 Walked. Water. Dying. .5
Repeat 800s 4x    .5
800 10:00 cool down .5

Total miles: 6.5  (6 miles running, .5 miles walking)

I felt the need to walk after the 8:49 pace so I slowed it down a bit and was able to run my recoveries after that. The run was ok. I got it done. Glad it’s over.

Confession Wednesday

I don’t usually do a confession Wednesday, but I’m feeling a little confessy today! Pretty sure that’s a word.

Whatever. Red underline thinks it’s all better than me.

I have a few of them for you today. Please don’t hate me.

1.  I think marathon training is already taking its toll on me.

I’m finding it hard and stressful to keep up my running schedule as well as my strength training schedule. Last time I cut back my strength training and increased my running, my body fat percentage went way up and my muscle mass went way down. I don’t want that to happen again.

My cross-training days are Monday and Wednesday, but I’m usually so sore from those days that they affect my runs on Tuesday and Thursday. For instance, I’m pretty sure I could have run those 800s last night at more than a 9:05 pace without dying, but my hamstrings are so sore from Monday’s workout that it was hard to manage.

Pretty sure there’s some unspoken rule against putting jokes on Kara’s picture if you’re a runner. Also, where the heck to does she put her Gu?

2.  I finally watched Spirit of the Marathon.

Last night, I sat down and was ready to be inspired and awed. Spirit of the Marathon has been sitting on my coffee table from Netflix for a month now, so I was ready. Plus, every blog I’ve ever read that mentions this movie talks about how amazing and inspiring it is.

Well, inspiration did not come. I was so bored that I turned it off after 30 minutes. I’m pretty sure this makes me less of a runner somehow and I should be publicly ridiculed at my next race. I feel like an ass for even saying it, but it’s true.

3.  While you’re in shock and horror about that last confession, I might as well tell you I loved this movie:

It’s old and it totally bombed when it came out in 1992. I just read an article where Christian Slater said this is his least favorite movie he’s made. This fan disagrees! I have loved this movie forever, plus it has Milla in it. Christian plus Milla is a win-win for this lady.

4. I now know that baby back ribs come from pig and NOT cow. (Thanks Master Chef)

In my defense, I hate ribs and never eat them.  But man, that was news to me.

On a completely random note, this is just for Carley: when you can’t fit your keys in your iFitness belt, use a hair tie around your wrist. 🙂

Do you have anything to confess today? (Make it good because I’m still feeling like a jerkface about my confessions.)  🙂
