I have a race this weekend! My running wife and I will finally be together again.
That was the Chicago Marathon last year, aka, the last time we raced together (the 10k in July doesn’t count). She’s been cheating on me a lot this year with her other running wives so this is my chance to win her back and show her what she’s missing.
This is the longest I’ve gone without racing since I started running. I had big plans for this race, namely a PR, which I was going to achieve by speed training and losing five pounds. Instead, I did none of that and gained 9 lbs. I never lost the “Lindsey’s” from vacation and then gained some additional “Jamie’s” after that. The extra pounds have been named Jamie because she introduced me to brunches with endless mimosas which I would not have known about otherwise.
Now my goals for the race have changed a bit. I plan to cross the finish line in an undetermined amount of time without pooping.
That’s about it. The weather has been amazing lately so I’m looking forward to it. So I hope you guys are all ready for some mediocre running.
Michelle and I are also registered for half marathons in January and March, and yesterday we registered for a 10-miler in April, so I’ll have a few more chances to PR this season if brunch doesn’t get to me first.
