Is it cool to talk about last weekend even though it’s Wednesday? I’m gonna go with yes. Yes it is. So, I was super productive last weekend! Not only did I finish my taxes and drop off a bunch of stuff to Goodwill, I got a little shopping done for my upcoming business trip. I’m determined not to be unprepared. I always bring things I think I need but don’t (fluffy bunny slippers) and then end up leaving things that I don’t think I need but do (nail clippers). So I’m taking steps to not be a terrible traveler.
1. First up, two new pairs of shoes from Target.
I don’t love either of those but I do love them more than walking around a military base all day in heels, which is all I have as far as work shoes. I’m thinking those should match any outfit I can come up with so hopefully I’ll only need to bring those, a pair of flip flops, and my sneakers. Also, let’s note that those are my first ever pair of ballet flats which I’ve avoided like the plague until now because 1) I don’t find them to be particularly cute or stylish like everyone else on the planet and 2) hubs hates ballet flats on women. (Aww, I’m such a husband pleaser.)
2. I bought a real book.
I was pretty sure once I met my Nook, I would never buy another book again. That is, until my last business trip when I was stuck in a room that didn’t allow electronics while everyone else went on half hour smoke breaks.
Michelle recommended Matched and whatever she recommends, I read. The girl’s got a 99% success rate with me. Matched is a trilogy, so I’m sure I’ll get sucked into it on my trip. As you can see, Pants already likes it as well.
3. A travel laundry bag.
I’m already excited that I won’t be putting my laundry into five Wal-Mart bags just to get it to the laundry room. Plus, I inevitably see a co-worker in the hotel hallway and have to talk to them while my faded, holey, 10-year-old underwear is hanging out of the bag. As I type this, I realize I could just bring a reusable grocery bag. Dammit.
5. Ok, this isn’t for travel. This is my outfit for Color Me Rad this weekend.
It’s not anything special and the tank top is a little sheer for my taste but I needed something white and this was what I could find on the cheap. It was only $8.00, so I’m surprised it’s not already falling apart. I’ll probably throw it away after the race anyway, unless it turns into some super sweet tie-dye tank.
What’s the one thing you never leave home without when you travel?
I really hate figuring out what shoes to pack when I travel. If the book is Pants approved then I shall add it to my reading list!
Piece of advice — try to break those flats in first. I have the same pair from Target and made the mistake of wearing them right from the store on my trip to Boston last summer. I arrived bleeding and hobbling. I’ve never been able to get them properly broken in — they still rub against my ankles horribly. Michelle has the same pair though (in a different color) and I think she told me hers eventually stopped hurting. So give them a good test run first if you have time.
Secondly, ummmm, blogging about events days or even weeks ago is my MO. So yeah, it’s cool to do. Otherwise, I may never blog again.
Lol – JINX!!!
Bwhahahaha! But now I’m going to go die my tan ones black to be a part of the Cool Girls Club.
**dye.
Paula is THISCLOSE to blocking me for spamming her blog.
You bring the shoes on Sat – I’ll bing the dye. And then there will be an initiation/hazing.
I think Paula likes it when we spam her blog.
I do kinda love it.
I’m pretty sure Kate and I also have those black flats. We can be triplets! One recommendation I have is to stretch the crap out of them before you wear them for a whole day because at first they hurt. Then they get better.
I hope you enjoy Matched! I still need to read the 3rd book – but at least the 3rd book is already out and we don’t have to wait a million years for it.
The third book is drastically different from the first two. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it’s a lot more action packed.
Just added “Matched” to my to-read list. I’m always looking for something new to read and would love to get sucked into another trilogy.
I always have to have hand sanitizing wipes and my flat iron. Also, since I am a germophobe have to bring a mini bottle of Lysol for the toilet before I use it.
I have my sanitizing wipes sitting out so I remember! Somehow I always make a mess on the plane when there’s no napkins to be found.
I dont have a good answer for you but i am super jealous of your teeny tiny waist? Id take that with me? Har har ahh sorry lol but it is pretty tiny! 🙂 hope the trip goes well!
I’ll be packing the waist and bringing it with me. 😉 I hope it comes back because TX has a lot of fried chicken that needs to be eaten.
For serious. You have the tiniest waist ever. And you thought your healthy eating wasn’t paying off! Pshhhh.
Oh, that’s not healthy eating. I could gain 20 lbs or lose it and my waist stays the same. It’s weird.
im glad im not the only one who doesnt like flats. They are seriously very unflattering on me. like they make me look extra frumpy or something. yuck. i also bought a pair tho one time actually in an emergency for work kind of. I had to go to a convention and stand at a booth (outside) all day and my heel broke when i stopped to get food ON MY WAY there so i had to duck into a kmart next door and flats were all i could find. haha. they worked for the occasion. (Torrance doesnt like flats on girls either, funny!)
And secondly, your waste looks tiny in the above picture!!!
I think flats look super cute on other girls. Why do flats gotta do us like this? So mean.
My kindle! Got to have my books to read
Yay, I liked Matched! And how fun that you’re doing Color Me Rad run. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
also… because bunnies make me think of you. While running in the park the other day, a bunny jumped out and ran in front of me. Scared the life out of me!
OH, that’s a good trilogy! It’s not Divergent or Hunger Games, but it sucked me in enough to finish all three 🙂
Yeah, it’s hard to top those too. Glad to hear you liked it. I need to finish my other book so I can start already!
I loved Matched! I was disappointed with the third book, but I don’t regret reading the series so there’s that. Plus I was disappointed with the third book in the Hunger Games series, so I think I’m disqualified from this discussion. I wish more authors would put out one extremely good quality book instead of trying to draw out a story that just isn’t worth three books.
I loved Mockingjay but I know others that were disappointed in it too. Looking forward to Matched though. I’m glad you loved it! Makes me look forward to it more. 🙂
If the tank is the Long & Lean from Target, after the first wash (or second if you’re lucky) the bottom hem will unravel.
That’s the one. I’m surprised it didn’t fall apart trying it on. 🙂
Nice grandma shoes. That tank would look better with some tits.
This has been your inappropriate comment of the day.
Cute shoes!
You look thin in the last picture. Looking good!!
You look itty bitty in your pics!! Need your secrets!
