The Good Stuff

I spent so much time whining in the last post that I forgot to tell you the cool stuff about the weekend. Stuff that didn’t make me cry in a grocery store. So, let’s do that now. ๐Ÿ™‚

1.ย  Friday, I got my hair done. Yes, again. It’s a sickness. I haven’t had my hair cut in over 6 months, so I had it trimmed and had my layers shaped up. And I went back to red. My goal is to eventually look like Emma Stone and take over her career of being adorable.

Youโ€™ve already seen that picture if you like the blog Facebook page. Sorry Iโ€™m too lazy to take a new picture. Or smile. I am however, not too lazy to spend 10 minutes finding an Instagram filter that covers up all my wrinkles.

2.ย  My stylist told me that if you want to keep your color longer, use a sulfate-free shampoo and wash your hair in cold water. I bought this stuff at the salon.

It was really expensive ($18) but it smells like angels. Plus I like to say the name of the shampoo really loud in the shower every time I use it.

3. After I bought my $18 shampoo, I found a whole line of sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners from L’Oreal at the grocery store for less than half the price. So I bought some of that too.

I’m not really a “rosemary mint” type of girl, but this stuff smells really fresh. And it’s one of the few conditioners that allows me to actually brush through my hair without little pieces breaking off and covering the counter top with hair balls.

4. I’m not sure if it’s because I just had my hair trimmed and it’s looking more healthy because of that or if it’s my new hair products, but HOT DAMN my hair isn’t frizzy and dry anymore. It’s so soft that I want to take the day off so I can go home and touch it all day.

That’s me today. Blow dried only and no hair products. But, it doesn’t look red or highlighted there. What gives?

I feel like I should apologize to my 5 male readers for talking about my hair so much but I doubt they made it this far. At least I’m not talking about pooping this time.

5.ย  Friday night, hubs and I went to see Orlando Jones at the Improv. It was a last minute thing since we scored free tickets a couple days earlier. Orlando Jones has been in a ton of movies and guested on a lot of TV shows, but heโ€™s probably most famous for being the 7-Up guy. (Remember โ€œmake 7-Up yours?”) Anyway, neither of us thought his stand-up was that funny but we thought it was super cool how appreciative he is of all his fans. He thanked everyone for being at the show and even stayed afterwards for pictures and autographs. Oh looky! A new picture for my Celebrities page. Smile

Anyway, he was seriously one of the nicest, most sincere celebrities Iโ€™ve met. He wanted to talk to everyone and shake everyone’s hand. He just seemed like a really good guy.

6. This girl posted the Tower of Terror 10-miler medal on her Facebook page, which just happens to be the next race I’m registered for. It glows in the dark and has a freakin’ working elevator.

I think I just peed my pants a little.

  1. I use the L’oreal shampoo and conditioner and love it! If you want smooth hair, try the John Frieda line. Love it too. And I love your new hair colour! I haven’t had mine dyed since last October. Such a long time for me

  2. theAlmostRunner

Yeah that hurr looks RILL GOOD. Also, WORKING ELEVATOR? Crazy.

  3. Your hair looks great! Did you wash it with cold water? How did that go?

  4. Loving the hair! the color and cut is perfection!

  5. What? It glows in the dark? Drats! I guess I’ll put that on my list for next year.

  6. Damn it! I was trying to look like Emma Stone with my red. I guess I’ll have to find another redhead to emulate. Maybe Rachel McAdams? Yes, in my fantasy life, I am Rachel McAdams.

  7. Sam

Love the new hair!! Super cute!! And I think I’ve seen him in a few movies. But you’re right, he is the 7 up guy ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Megan

I literally squealed out loud when Run Disney posted that medal on their FB page. It is BANANAS!!

  9. julie

    LOVE the red.

  10. I ADORE your hair. Seriously. So cute. I’ve wanted side bangs like that for forever but don’t think my thin greasy hair will pull it off. And I fear the backlash of “growing them out”, which we all know takes 10 years. But maybe I should just suck it up. Second, that medal may be cooler than the pirate one. A WORKING elevator? Finally, your next post is very fitting because I just polished off some ice cream, doritos, and some peeps. I need to step away from the ledge!

Thank you! I’m growing mine out now so we’ll see how that goes. Usually I start looking like a sheepdog. Mmm. I cannot be trusted around Peeps.

  11. Stefanie

I really. REALLY. Love the color of your hair! Cuuuuute.

  12. Liking your hair cut! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been using so many different kinds of shampoo & conditioners due to getting them free or cheap…that its ridiculous. Right now using Pantene again, but I am not sure I like it enough I might give it to someone else. I’ll give it a week. I used to use Pantene all the time, but then a hair stylist told me to try some different ones as they would help my hair a lot, and they did…I love using Matrixx line…but have this obsession with trying all these free ones that I got…so…it’ll be a while before I go back (not true, I still have some…lol…).

And I’m loving that medal, too bad I cannot do that run…if I was in Orlando still (sniff sniff) I would have signed up the second I saw it (which was months ago – as I follow RunDisney). Besides still not finding a job, Pete’s sister’s baby is due then, and she’d like us to be in town…so…yep…different things going on now that we live here in SC. ๐Ÿ˜‰

My stylist told me whatever I do, don’t use Pantene. That it’s the worst. So that was nice to hear after using about 30 bottles of it in my lifetime. I always bought the cheap stuff cuz I never cared but I guess it does make a difference! I’m loving my new stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Stacie

I am so freaking jealous you are running ToT 10 miler. I want… No, I NEED that medal!!!

  14. how cool!!
    and love your hair.
man i love the salon shampoo jobs. i always buy the good shampoo to try and recreate it but it is just never the same!

  15. Erin

    Your hair looks great!

  16. Amber K

I can’t even finish my shower with a cold water rinse let alone wash my hair completely with cold water. People seriously have to start recommending that or I’m going to have to Hi-Ya them to death. My scalp is a wuss!

  17. Love, LOVE red hair on you. Suits you perfectly if I do say so myself. And I do.
Also enjoyed your previous post. Every woman I know has these days. And if she doesn’t I don’t want to be her friend because I would be insanely envious. Deep breath. Today is a new day. And you are awesome and your workouts are not in vain. Shoot, you helped inspire little old me to run a marathon. And I have never done a burpee in my life so there. Keep on keeping on Lady!

    • Paula

Thanks darlin’! โค โค And yes, I just would kindly like to ask my emotions to steer clear of happening at the grocery store. So rude of them. After work or perhaps on a Sunday morning when I can sleep in would be great. ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. I’m fighting off some major bling jealousy over here. That medal is really cool!

Is your new shampoo one of those weird ones that doesn’t get sudsy? I’ve heard some hype lately about non-foaming shampoos. I just wouldn’t know how to shampoo my hair if there were no bubbles. How do you know if you got it all? How do you know when you are done? I guess if my hair was super silky it’d be worth it.*
