Beachy Keen

After my 16 miler on Saturday, the hubs and I drove out to Cocoa Beach to meet up with all the peeps for our Taekwondo school’s yearly Beach Day. The school is where we take our martial arts fitness class every week and where hubs earned his black belt.

Cocoa Beach is about a hour from Orlando and a really peaceful drive. Here’s a couple shots from the road.

The clouds were hanging low (TWSS) and looked really pretty over the water.

Once we got to Cocoa Beach, we checked into the hotel. I noticed this flag in the lobby and thought Cely might want one for her new apartment.

We dropped our stuff off at the room and met everyone out at the beach. Everyone was late last year, so we took our sweet time getting ready to leave. Of course, everyone was on time this year. Not cool. We like to be fashionably late not extremely late. We have reps to maintain here.

It was seriously hot out but it turned out to be a perfect day for the beach.

Fact: If you stand around and look pathetic enough, people will offer you their beer. (Thanks Ursula!)

I think she wanted to win friend points once she saw how cool it was that I model my bangs after Jim Carrey.

Hubs walked around looking like a GQ cover for awhile.

And some illegal grilling may or may not have happened.

After our bellies were full and we were done being lazy all day at the beach, we went to the hotel pool to be lazy some more.

All that lazy really worked up an appetite, so we all went out to dinner at Coconuts on the Beach.

Don’t look too excited there, Jason.

(By the way, all those people are seriously amazing. It’s like the big, crazy family you’ve always wanted but never had. They all either do the martial arts fitness class, Taekwondo, or Kung Fu. Some do all of it. They could all kick my butt.)

I’ve never been to Coconuts but I was really impressed with their food. I had the bleu cheese burger and hubs had some awesome crab cake. I was so impressed that I hoovered the burger in and forgot to take pictures. 😦

After dinner, hubs told me he would love nothing more than for me to take another picture of us so we can document our love and life together.

Done and done.

Once we got back to the hotel, a few of us hung out and played the Circle of Death card game for a LONG time at an outside eating area of the hotel. I continued to look pathetic until other people gave me their beer. (Thanks Jason!) And what do we have to show for it? A hotel sign that ended up in one of our rooms “mysteriously.”

Thanks for the photo bomb, Clark.

Have you ever played (or heard of) Circle of Death? (I never heard of it until this weekend and it is seriously addicting!)

Too funny! Btw, the one on the pic is Chase…lol
What happened to the ginormous marshmallow, not cool enough for the blog? hahaha

  2. Circle of death sounds a lot like Kings which is a drinking game we played all the time in college and grad school (Ok, I still play it occasionally!). Some of the rules are a little different, but it’s the same basic idea. Lots of fun!

  3. My favorite part of today’s post was Jason. Looks like a riot.

  4. Kim (Book Worm Runs)

Looks like an amazingly fun day! I have never heard of that game but you make it sound like I must play it NOW! 🙂

What? No pictures of your hotness in your bikini? SO disappointed! 😉

  6. I have not played Circle of Death in FOREVER. Umm possibly since I was 21.
Looks like a fun weekend!! Were you at the Hilton?

  7. Girl….lol you made me laugh so…and I’m on conf call…luckily I managed to laugh so much on the inside! Love your ref to Jim Carrey, but dah’lin…your bangs don’t look like his…you rock yours! 😉

Jealous!!!!! I love, love, love the beach. That looks beatiful and so fun. And a blue cheese burger is so my favorite. What perfect post-long run food!!

  10. I miss the beaches in Florida sooo much! It looks like you had a great time! Circle of Death sounds more like circle of drunk from the rules! I’m horrible at card games. I never remember the rules!

  11. Oh my god Circle of Death! Holy flashbacks to college. You guys are too much fun!

Also, I love your yellow nail polish. Love.

  12. since you didn’t get me anything for my birthday a couple of months ago, i will be expecting that flag in the mail. thanks in advance. my pinkies hurt and i can’t use the caps lock, sorry for the small caps.

  13. Oooh! I’ve never played, but I’m intrigued!

Love the subtle TWSS reference. I say that at least 5 times a day 🙂

  14. Love your pictures & the commentary. And, I’ve never played the game, but it sounds fun.
I have the same starfish necklace & love it!

PS – you do not have Jim Carey bangs. 😉

I seriously need to hit up Cocoa Beach. The last time I was there was after a hurricane, and it looked dreadful.

We should do a blogger meetup just to play Circle of Death. I’ve never played, but sounds like fun!

  16. Love the polish! Looks like you guys had fun. I have no clue what this circle of death game is, explain.

  17. Looks like a fun day. Lovin’ the beach. Why oh why do I live in ugly ol’ Texas?

I have never ever heard of Circle of Death, but it sounds intense. Is that flag of Will and Kate for real?? Seriously funny. I love that you took a picture of it!

And in response to your comment earlier…YES, some mornings are cold enough to need heat here in Utah! But then I turn it off about 5 seconds later. I may just be a baby. Maybe I should just suck it up and leave it off so it stays frigid in my car and I don’t feel all cozy and sleepy again.

Gotta represent Orlando & Cocoa Beach 😉
I’ve never heard of that game– but it sounds pretty intense! I hope nobody died while playing… haha

  20. Loving the nail polish!*

  21. All these beachy /summery pictures on blogs are making me so jealous! While we have weather in the 50s and 60s (sometimes the low 70s), the rest of the country is having an actual summer.
