I was sure she was talking about someone she had a pet name for and not my beloved bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But I was wrong.
Flea ran the LA Marathon (in the torrential downpour) to fund music education for children. He ran it in 3:52.
This made me curious about other celebrities who have run marathons. And I was surprised by what I found and by their finish times.
Lance Armstrong – NYC Marathon – 2:59:36 (2006) and 2:36:43 (2007)
Ok, I wasn’t surprised by his time. It’s not fair that one man can have all that athletic talent.
Alanis Morrisette – NYC Marathon (2009) – 4:28:45
I couldn’t find a race picture of Alanis, but “you outta know” that I was surprised to see her on the list and her awesome time. (I know. Terrible joke.)
Shia LeBeouf – NYC Marathon (2010) – 4:35:33
You probably know him from Disturbia and Transformers. If you know him from Eagle Eye, then shame on you! Does anyone else check out everyone’s shoes when their running besides me? Looks like Shia is a Mizuno man.
Gordon Ramsay – NYC Marathon (2010) – in just over 3:30.
I love this guy. You know him for being a famous chef and from his reality shows Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen. Not only has he ran the NYC Marathon, but he’s run the Flora marathon in London at least 7 times. He’s 45 years old. One word: inpiration. He just backed out of the LA Marathon last weekend because of an injury.
Freddie Prinze Jr. – LA Marathon (2006) – 5:50:49
Freddie is in shape, so this must be an actual picture of him taking a break on the course to take almost 6 hours to complete it.
Mario Lopez – Boston Marathon (2002) – 5:41:42
Who knew Slater from Saved by the Bell would grow up so big and….strong. 🙂 Mario ran this for charity, so I’m sure there were more photo opps along the course than he could handle. That or he was flirting with the ladies, because I’m pretty sure I could do a marathon in less time that that.
Katie Holmes – NYC Marathon – 5:29
Dear Joey, please wear a bra. K, thanks. Does anyone else wear their iPod like a bracelet like that?
George W Bush – Houston Marathon – 3:44:52
I was super impressed with Dubbya’s time and that he ran a marathon – probably in the Texas heat too. That’s hard core.
Ryan Reynolds – NYC Marathon (2008) 3:50:22
This marathon lasted longer than his marriage to Scarlett Johanssen.
Edward Norton – NYC Marathon (2009) – 3:48:01
He just looks fast. Now I wish he’d go back to making good movies again – and fast!
Sean Combs “P. Diddy” – NYC Marathon (2003) – 4:14:54
The most shocking thing to me about this was that P. Diddy was around and making headlines in 2003. Where is the time going?
William Baldwin – NYC Marathon (1992) – 3:24:29
That is an impressive time. I couldn’t find a picture of William doing ANY activity, much less running. But I think in this picture he is thinking about running.
And last but certainly not least: Will Ferrell ran the Boston Marathon in 2003 to the tune of 3:56:12.
I also found a picture of Will in the Malibu Marathon, so he’s done quite a few races. Now he just needs to work on his abs.
Honorable Mention for the longest celebrity marathon I found: Al Roker ran the 2010 NYC Marathon in 7:09:44. I don’t think I’d want to do anything for that long.
Were you surprised by any of these? Or were you just surprised by Will Ferrell’s pants?
