More Humid Than Humid

Monday night, I went out for a 5 mile run that turned into 3.5 miles. I haven’t run at all in over a week so you’d think it would have been a good run. But no. I was still full from dinner and it was so humid out that I could barely breathe. And I really like breathing. It’s worked out well for me for so many years. Unfortunately, we completely bypassed Winter and Spring and went straight to 90° Summer. Thanks for nothing, Florida.

When I got home and plugged my Garmin in, I noticed my pace wasn’t that bad for hating life out there.

I was just running for some exercise and not trying to maintain a pace, so I was really happy with the numbers. Then I promptly gave myself a high five for being awesome. Now I just need to keep that up for about 22 more miles.  Or even 10 more. I won’t be picky.

After my run, I watched Being Human (the U.S. version) and cried for the last 10 minutes. Did not see that ending coming. Plus, I cry at everything. It’s ridiculous. Season finale is next week and I’m so loving that show and Sam Huntington. How cute is he?

Of course I had to look up everything about him. And in case you’re wondering, his birthday was on Sunday (he’s 30, so he’s totally legal) and he was in 2 episodes of Veronica Mars as Luke. (Who the hell was Luke? I know that show like the back of my hand.) Then, he was in Fanboys, which also starred my girlfriend, Kristen Bell. (You cannot have her, Lindsey.) So, I’m thinking I can use him somehow to get to KB. Unfortunately, I also learned something about him that I cannot unlearn.

Yeah. So I guess he starred in that show that shall not be mentioned.

Now that you know a whole lot about a dude you have never seen before, let’s get back to that humidity thing. I will be getting away from it for a few days since I’m flying out to San Diego today to visit these goofballs.

My brother, niece, and nephews.

And my mama.

I’ve heard San Diego has these things called “hills” and I might even try to run up one of them. But I don’t want to get too crazy. Should be a fun family kind of weekend.

Do you cry during movies/TV shows? (I had to stop watching romance movies and certain dramas because I’m a mess and so worn out afterwards. I own The Notebook and still have never seen it because I know I’ll cry.)

Death by Eurythmics

1.  Well, it happened. It’s race week and I’m sick. Not like I expected to win the Miami ING Half Marathon, but I at least wanted to do better than my last drunken burrito-filled half marathon. I’ve done some speed work, but not nearly as much as I’ve wanted to. So, I’m pretty sure I’m doomed this weekend. All I know is that I will crawl 13.1 miles to get that sweet, sweet medal.

So shiny!

2. Speaking of the half marathon this weekend, I finally get to meet one of my absolute favorite bloggers! I’ve been reading her blog for almost a year now and I’m pretty sure we’re secret besties because we are both equal parts OCD and crazy. We’ve never met in person, so that doesn’t make it creepy at all that we’re sharing a hotel room.

3. My weekend won’t end at the race either. When I get home from Miami on Sunday, hubs and I will be heading down to the House of Blues (also known as the taker of iPods) to see The Kills in concert. Not only have I been waiting for them to tour anywhere near me for awhile, but I also can’t wait to see what else I can possibly lose at the show.

How many of you have no idea who The Kills are? Smile

4. Now that my iPod is gone, I listen to Pandora all day at work. I didn’t know it was possible to shuffle that much Eurythmics from 8am to 9am, but Pandora has managed it. So, I’m taking the plunge and putting my music on my Droid for now. I’m not a fan of putting music on a phone. I like having a separate iPod for that. I listen to music so much that I constantly worry about my phone battery dying at just the wrong time and not being able to call for help when I’m trapped under a boulder.

5.  I can’t listen to Pocketful of Sunshine without thinking of Easy A. (Pandora likes playing that one too.) I’ve even given myself ample time away from the movie. It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen it and still when that song comes on – it’s all I can think about.

6. At what point have you eaten too many carrots?

I ate that whole bag yesterday with some plain Greek yogurt/Ranch dip mixture. I actually bought those carrots for the bunny but I’m trying not to eat out this week and desperate times call for desperate measures.

7.  Hubs and I saw Bad Teacher over the weekend.

We were fully prepared for it to suck and planned on turning it off 30 minutes in and renting Rise of the Planet of the Apes instead. But we actually made it through the whole movie. And it was pretty funny.

8. Being Human is back on. FINALLY. Does anyone else watch this? It’s on SyFy (there’s a British version too) and I wrote a post about my love for this show last year. I’ve been waiting for it to come back because I don’t have enough to watch already.

Anyway, if you like ghosts and werewolves and vampires that share an apartment together while hi jinx ensues, you’ll probably like this.

And I know that just sounded dumb. But it’s actually good. Pinky swear.

TV Tuesday

Workout: Crossfit (40 min?) I wasn’t really paying attention to time. <— loser

Today I thought I would tell you all about the new show I’m watching that I love –  Being Human.

This one is on the Syfy network and is an American remake of the British show of the same name. I have friends that like the British version and have recommended it to me, but I decided to watch the American one since it just premiered and I don’t have to watch four seasons to catch up.

Alright. This is the plot. And I’m serious when I tell you this.

You can’t make this stuff up.

It’s about a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost…who are roommates.

And no. It’s not a comedy.

Although it does have some humor, it’s mainly a drama.

The show follows each of the characters and how they deal with what they are, how they became monsters, and how they deal with being friends with one another. (If you know folklore (is it folklore?), vampires and werewolves are enemies.)

The ghost struggles with finding out who killed her, the werewolf struggles with hating what he is, and the vampire struggles with trying to lead a “normal” life (i.e. not kill anyone).

The show has great character actors too, like Mark Pellegrino.

That dude is in everything – Jacob in Lost, the devil in Supernatural, Rita’s ex-husband on Dexter. Apparently he was also in The Number 23. (Don’t watch that movie though, trust me.)

Being Human is joining my Monday night line-up along with House and Chuck. And last night, the hubs decided to watch Being Human first out of the three. (We usually always pick Chuck.)

So try it out if you have the SyFy channel or catch an episode online HERE.

I’ve only seen 3 or 4 episodes, so I can’t declare it a favorite yet. But I’m about 2 episodes away from being nerdy enough to wear this shirt in public.

Has anyone else seen this show yet? What do you think? If you watch it for the first time soon, let me know what you thought!
