About Me

Hello there. And thanks for stopping by!

I’m Paula and I live in Orlando. In the real world, I work as a Technical Writer and am married to this hunk of love right here:

We have the sweetest, one-eared bunny named Bunnypants. But she can also be an angry diva.

I love fitness, cupcakes, celebrity gossip, music, movies, TV, and running. I  have an inordinate amount of useless celebrity knowledge. If I could remember anything besides stuff like the names of James Cameron’s ex-wives, I’d probably be doing something else besides blogging. Like, brain surgery.

I have always struggled with my weight. I have been up and down my whole life, and when I’m down, it’s hard for me to stay down. (Just check out my Celebs page and you can see all the weight fluctuations there.) I started running after high school to lose weight. At first, I could barely run around the block, but I keep working at it until I could run 6 miles comfortably. I never challenged myself with distance or speed until two years ago.

I ran my first half marathon on October 4, 2010 after some encouragement begging from my friend, Tiffany. My friend, Michelle, jumped on board (it was her first half too) and my support system was set! Now, my goal is to run a sub-2-hour half marathon. I’ve gotten really close. Twice.

I also ran my first full marathon – the Savannah Rock n Roll on November 5, 2011. It was one of the toughest things I’ve done physically and emotionally and I kinda hated it. Then I ran my second marathon six weeks later and loved it. A lot. It was the kind of race experience that reminds you why running is so rewarding.

So, with this blog, you’ll read about running, Crossfit, and my unnatural love for movies, TV, concerts, and binge eating cupcakes and Peeps. And probably some other shenanigans too.

You’ll also get random pictures of my bunny you didn’t even know you wanted until you got them.

You’re awesome. You and your bunny boos remind me of me and my chinchilla :-p

  2. I’m glad I found your blog! You seem to be on a great journey and really finding a healthy balance in life…you should be proud of that!!!

  3. Christina says:

I’m running Savannah this year too! I’m so excited :)

I’m from Orlando too! Do you train with Track Shack by chance?

  4. Meg says:

Hi! I found your blog through, I think, Meghann at Meals and Miles, I can’t remember for sure. I’ve been reading for a few weeks now and love your writing. You make me laugh…when I’m supposed to laugh and it’s a funny entry. I don’t laugh at everything. :) I don’t have my own blog, I just like to read others, but I wanted to actually comment and say Hi! My name is Meg and I live in Orlando, and I run too. :)

    • Awesome! I’m glad you said hi. :-) Do you run races? My friend Michelle and I are starting marathon training in a month and we’re getting excited to meet more runners in the Orlando area. :-)

      • Meg says:

Hi! Yes, I do run races. :) I’ve done 4 half-marathons, 10 or 11 5Ks, a 10 miler, and some random other distances in there. That is awesome that you are starting marathon training! I would love to do a marathon some day, but I’m not quite there mentally yet. And I think my body would fail me lol.

  5. I am so glad I stumbled across your blog, I have always said that if I knew as much about architecture as I did about celebrity gossip…
It’s insane the stupid facts I know, I feel like I have a comrade now!

BTW – your bunny is the cutest thing ever!

    • Yes! I obviously have the memory retention/learning ability, but why can’t it be with something that makes me loads of money? I guess we’ll just have to settle for winning $20 bar tabs on trivia night. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

  6. Priyanka says:

Its great to know you. You have the cutest bunny ever and why don’t you like beta’s? They have such a beautiful color. Lovely blog, looking forward to reading more.

    • Thank you! :-) Our beta fish is just blue/black. A red one might be pretty tho! The fish was given to my hubs as “present” for his birthday. We didn’t want a fish and the people that gave it to us thought it was funny. We did not think it was funny. So, now it’s just another thing for me to take care of because the hubs wants nothing to do with it. :-(

  7. Hey there! I just found your blog through PBfingers, and I just had to comment because you seem so full of life and haaaalarious! I also like to post pictures about my new puppy, Happy… so I understand your love for your little bunny! So cute! BTW — I just signed up for the Savannah RNR Marathon… I’m *so* excited to run it, and to explore Savannah… I’ve never been before! Looking forward to following your training :)

    • Thanks for stopping by! I’ve never been to Savannah either so I’m super excited about it. I bet it will be a pretty course. Plus, it will be my first RnR too. :-)

  8. I just found blog from another comment section and am psyched I did! I had a great time reading your “about” page, you are hysterical lady!
I am looking forward to reading more :)

  9. So glad I found your blog!

Look forward to reading some more :)

  10. You were right– we do have a lot in common :) (I recognize downtown Orlando in your header ;) ) I can’t wait to keep up with your blog and learn more about you!

P.S. Your 1 eared bunny is just about the cutest thing ive ever seen…

  11. Just found your blog and wanted to say hi! I’m a newcomer to Florida and haven’t found ANYONE in my area, but Orlando is close enough! ;) If you didn’t mention being 35 at the beginning, I wouldn’t even have guessed that! You look great! And no pictures of the beta fish? You gotta have love for him too!

  12. Hi! Just stumbled upon your blog (actually, I was looking up 20 mile run recaps) and I kind of love it. Awesome job!

I will also be running the Savannah RnR marathon- my first! Eeek!

Your one-eared bunny is adorable! I had a one eyed cat. Tried to dress him up as a pirate with an eye patch one year for Halloween, but he didn’t appreciate it. Stupid felines.

    • Thank you! I’m getting nervous for Savannah. And excited! I just hope I can walk afterwards. :-) Oh, and if I had a one-eyed cat, I would totally put a patch on its eye too. You can’t let an opportunity like that go to waste.

  13. Oh gosh where do i start
First off its nice to read a blogger who isn’t really really young, lol! I love reading all blogs buts its a relief to have someone closer to my age to read and secondly you are FUNNY!!! Funny blogs are my fav and therefore you are now initiated onto my must read list
Ps: Bunnypants is crazy cute and blogging gold :)

Hey Paula, I’m new to your blog, love it! You are so funny! You and your husband are so cute together and of course Bunnypants is cute too! You may have already covered this in one of your posts, but was she born with only one ear?

    • Thank you! Glad to hear you like it. :-)
We think so. She was a rescue bunny, but because she didn’t have any scarring or scabs when she was a wee bun, the pet store thinks she was born without it. Which is good! I’d hate to think of her in a death match with some other animal. She’s way too cute to fight. :-)

  15. love that you have a bunny. this is so darn cute! im a fellow floridian as well- from Tampa and living in Tallahassee now! absolutely loving your blog now.

  16. the fact that you have a one-eared bunny is beyond cool.

Just discovered your blog and I love it! Your bunny is so adorable :)

  18. Reese says:

Hi! I found your website through some other running blog (don’t remember which one.) Anyways, now I’m following, also I live in Florida too so it’s cool to have finally found a FLORIDA blogger since they all seem to be from NY and such. Well, I am a new, aspiring(maybe) runner and I happen to love celebrity gossip as well so I am definitely looking forward to reading more! :)

  19. Hey Paula! Came over from HHRunner! I love your intro~ very witty ;) I just started getting into running and trying to find as much “realistic” info as possible… so I’ll probably be stalking you on this blog lol.
Love your pets btw! Maybe I should get a beta fish.. since they don’t need much attention ;)

  20. Jillian-Elle says:

Just found your blog and absolutely love it! You’re hilarious! And your bunny is too cute!!

  21. Kara says:

Is there a post that explains the one ear-ness of the bunny? I have so many interesting scenarios that could explain it. :)

There is! But it’s probably best you don’t read it because I’m sure anything you could come up with on your own is a better story. :-)

  22. Shannon Johnson says:

I was looking up training routines for running my first half marathon in Sept. (The Rock and Roll Marathon) and stumbled upon your blog. I have all of my friends and coworkers motivated to get into running and training, now they all are reading your blog because I can’t stop talking about how funny you are and how much I can relate to a lot of it! You are keeping us all cracking up here in Denver and I am glad to have learned some things that could have potentially ended up being a disaster later. Thank you!!!

    • Paula says:

I love hearing this! Glad I could help and keep you entertained. :-) Good luck with your half! And be careful. Racing gets addictive, especially when you have a bunch of friends that love it too.

  23. Amy in Mississippi says:

Found your blog while inquiring about skipping obstacles in Warrior Dash. Not that I’m a slacker, but I strained my calf muscle (ok, maybe tore it a little) a couple of weeks ago during circuit training. Sooooo, yes, I’m a little worried. Plus the fact that website includes a statement about no urination nor defecation allowed on the course is cause for alarm. No, I wasn’t planning to do this, just weird that they felt the need to state this. Anyway, I’ve enjoyed your blog and thanks for the motivation and humor!

  24. Megan says:

Just found your blog and am absolutely in love with it – maybe more so your bunny. But either way, love your blog and just wanted to say hello! :)

Well thanks for saying hi! And I’m sure Pants will be thrilled to hear that. She thinks she runs the show around here anyway so I’m sure that will just validate that feeling. :-)

  25. Sarah says:

Ha! Just hopped over to your blog and LOVE that you have a bunny, but better yet, you named it bunnypants. How freaking awesome are you?! :)
