The Other Stuff

With all the birthday talk going on, I’ve completely forgotten to talk about all the other meaningless stuff in my life. So let’s do that, shall we?

1. HBO – Got it

I’ve been telling myself for a year that I wasn’t going to watch this season of True Blood because the last one sucked so bad. Plus, Alan Ball (the creator) left and that’s never good news for a show when someone that pivotal leaves (I’m looking at you, Supernatural). Then I contemplated if $17 a month is worth it for the next 3 months and just when I decided it wasn’t, I gave in 5 minutes before the season premiere.

I’m not even sure I liked the season premiere. I officially don’t like Sookie and they’re making Jason a complete p-whipped idiot when he was much more entertaining as just an idiot. But it seems like Tara might get interesting (for once) and as long as Alcide hangs around, there’s something to look at.

I am not a big fan of beards or mustaches, but I am a fan of him. Mmmm…6’5″.  Also, I just found out I am 6 months older than him. So that means I can add him to my future husbands list and it wouldn’t be weird.

In the meantime, I’m getting my monies worth by catching up on season 2 of Game of Thrones.

2. Workouts – Did it

I’ve been eating a lot but I’ve been working out a lot too. On Friday, I did a workout that had me limping by Sunday. I did 150 low squats with 65 lb barbell and then when my trainer saw that was “easy” for me, he added another 50 with 75 lbs. Pretty sure that last 50 was a real bad idea.

On Sunday, I decided to go to spin to “loosen up my legs.” Note to self: spin does not loosen up your legs. Luckily, I felt 60% better yesterday and able to do this workout.

This one is really good cardio and it seemed to go by really fast once I got used to the motions to get to each exercise. Make sure to roll one way into the supermans for the first 25 sets and roll the other way for the second 25. It took me about 25 minutes.

Oh, I’m on Daily Mile now if you wanna be my friend, by the way. I mostly remember to add my workouts after I do them and you’ll definitely see them there before I post them on the blog.

3. Prometheus – Saw it

Alright. I didn’t like it. And I normally love these types of movies. Aliens is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time even though I’m not supposed to be comparing the two because Prometheus technically isn’t part of the Alien franchise.

It started out s.l.o.w and by the time it picked up, it just wasn’t enough for me. Plus, there were so many ridiculous scenes that I just couldn’t get into it. I also did not like the cast and didn’t give a shit if they lived or died. So there were a lot of things working against it for me. With that said, hubs loved it and he’s convinced that if I watch it again, that I will like it more.

4. New email icon – Scored it

Now when you look for my email address on the left sidebar of the blog, you’ll see the most adorable thing ever.

5. Flying roach – Killed it

Hubs and I went out to dinner with my in-laws on Friday. For some reason, the conversation lead to pest control and I mentioned that since we’ve been in our new house (almost 2 years), I’ve never seen a roach.  < — foreshadowing

Enter Sunday. I’m watching True Blood and I see a roach hauling ass on the wall. Hubs tries to swat at it to knock it down so he can get close enough to kill it when it starts flying all over the place. I hate roaches but flying roaches are the things of nightmares. Why would anyone think that wings on those things are a good idea? My God, what next??

(source)

It seriously became this 15 minute ordeal of searching for a flashlight and then bug spray. Then we lost him and couldn’t relax until we found him. It was ridiculous. I cannot handle bugs with superpowers.

So that about covers everything else about the weekend. Tonight I plan to test out my new running shoes (yay!) and catch up on Hell’s Kitchen and Master Chef. I love me some Gordon Ramsey.

uuuuggghhhh True Blood. I wasn’t going to watch either. But we never turned it off our DVR so it recorded and I folded and watched it. WTF happened to Jason. I’m so upset I can’t even stand it. And I don’t think I even understood the premiere. However, agreed about Alcide, good grief he’s an attractive man and makes the entire show worth watching. And I’m interested to see wtf happens to Tara now that she’s all crazy-like vampire and not just regular crazy-like. So I guess I’ll be watching. Again. Even though I said I wouldn’t after last season’s depressing showing.

  3. Speaking of bugs, we’ve had a “fly” problem. Yes, flies. Last night I was going to go shower and to bed, but I saw those suckers flying around the kitchen and I just had it. I got the fly swatter and had it out! I killed 3 or 4 of them, swatted in the air! Well, I say, or 4, because that last one…I hit it with the swatter, not once, but twice and it flew away! WTF! I mean seriously, WTF! Flies should not be that strong! Well, haven’t seen one this morning, so I’m hopeful it died from the injuries.

AND BY FAR DO I AGREE THAT A FLYING ROACH IS A TERRIBLE SCARY HORROR STORY OF A THING! Ack!

  4. I am (hoping) to test out my new running shoes tonight too! I’ll let you know what I think of the Kinvaras.

Palmetto bugs are the things nightmares are made from. I can handle spiders. I can handle frogs and lizards. I cannot handle roaches, palmetto bugs, or the German roaches (which are smaller and therefore creepier). We once had a roach in our (old) TV (when we lived an apartment). We would see it crawl across the screen, from the inside. *shudder*

    • OMG. I would die. And it’s not like you can spray the inside of a TV without the possibility of losing your beloved TV. That is a true Catch 22.

  5. When you are doing 50 rounds like that, how do you keep track of how many you’ve done? Do you count out loud? Does someone else count for you? Do you make a tally somewhere?*

Funny you asked because about 8 reps in, I said to my trainer, “I hope you’re counting this.” And thank goodness he was! But if you count yourself, I’d recommend counting at every jump tuck. That’s what he did.

When we switched to AT&T U-Verse, we basically purchased every single package under the sun. We get every movie channel and EVERY SINGLE sports channel. There’s literally a channel where you can just toggle between different views of a baseball field.

Hmm we share some of the same future husbands. It will sure be awkward when Aaron Paul declares his love for me.

  8. Ohhhh Alcide. I am not a fan of beards either but he is the sexiest minx who has ever minxed. He is absolutely on my future husbands list.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the last season of True Blood either…hopefully this one will be betta! I am so intrigued about Tara!

Love..Looooooooove LOVE Hell’s Kitchen. How on earth do these ‘chefs’ never know how to cook a freaking scallop? Can it really be that hard? Or the risotto… don’t even get me started on the risotto.
The big, large, humongous guy owns a fantastic pizza restaurant in Richmond, so right now I’m pulling for him. If you can cook good pizza, you win in my book.

    • Yes! It’s always the scallops and risotto! I love when Ramsey calls the chefs donkeys. Also, I love to yell SHUT IT DOWN in the house whenever it comes on. You know, gets me in the spirit of Hell’s Kitchen.

I’m so glad there are many major bugs in Oregon. Spiders and that’s about it. Stomp and dead. Because just the idea of roaches or FLYING roaches is freaking me the eff out.

Honest, I skimmed over the True Blood stuff til I saw my name. I’m so glad I might be getting interesting.

The roach, I have a funny roach story to tell sometime. It involves a flying roach and the husband and I hurling items at it. Fun times at 11 pm.

Palmetto Bugs are most definitely the worst part about living in Florida. I despise them and completely freak out every time I see one. ACK!!

    • YES! Or those water bugs that look like over-sized roaches with giant biceps. If you get close enough, I’m pretty sure they can punch you.

  13. I have a 3 day free trial of HBO in which I’ve DVRed the shit out of it. And that’s all the HBO I get.

    PANTSSSSSS!!!!

That Flying Roach is the stuff of nightmares. I wouldn’t be able to sleep until that thing was dead and I knew where it was living so I could kill all of its little friends. True story.

  14. Since moving to Florida, I’ve become so desensitized to roaches. They used to freak me the hell out. Now? Eh. I just grab a paper towel and squash them. I’ve never seen a flying one (thank God) but I have seen some HUGE mofos scurry back into the garage. I hate those ones. But now I just make E. kill them, so it’s all good. Mosquitoes are my big nemesis here. I can’t walk outside without being swarmed by at least 10 of them. I hate them and chase them like crazy around the house if one gets in.

As for True Blood, I knew I’d watch it. I’m not crazy enough to pretend that I wouldn’t. But I didn’t watch it until Monday, so there’s that. I just hate most of them — Tara, Sookie, p-whipped Jason, and most of all, Bill. But that Eric sex scene was a really nice gift to us. Oh dear Lord. And we need much more Alcide. MUCH more.

  15. We just finished Game of Thrones, season 2 and I was not amused. The weird “mother of dragons” talk is too much and I really hate Joffry (Joffery?). I want him to die, but I doubt it will happen because he is such a fun character to hate. I didn’t know True Blood was starting again (I like under a rock), but I might have to take a look and see if we can find it. Tara was really pissing me off last season, so we shall see. Thanks for the heads up. Do you have a tall guy fetish too?

I found a baby silverfish recently. Apparently their superpower is to live off of the glue in book spines. I hate bugs. And I’m really sad Tara isn’t dead because she annoys the everliving crap out of me. She’s not even that important in the books.

Thank you for that picture of Alcide–it made my Friday. Now, if he’d only spend the entire season undressed like that.

Will they ever kill off Bill? I think he’s such an annoying character, and they should have rewritten him so that Steven Moyer could have kept his accent–every time he says “Sookie” I want to punch him in the face.

The premiere was better than I expected. I’m still mad, though, that they killed off David & simultaneously broke my favorite character’s heart. Lafayette deserves some happiness.
