Running Hates Me

Friday night, hubs and I went to a wedding reception of a friend from work. Just the reception, not the wedding. The wedding was a couple of months ago in Jamaica. Glad I wasn’t invited to that. Blech! I probably would have hated it there anyway. So ugly.

The reception was at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market, which is an old train station that was restored and now used for the farmer’s market every Saturday and for special events on weekend nights. The place is very rustic and charming and happens to be the place where hubs and I were going to have our reception until we cancelled everything and went to Vegas instead.

About 30 minutes into the reception, hubs and I both agreed that we were so glad our reception wasn’t there. A train goes by every 10 minutes and it’s so loud and obnoxious. It’s like your in The Lost Boys train scene. Everything starts rumbling, the train sounds like it’s circling you, and you can barely hear Keifer Sutherland tell you that you’re a vampire. If I needed any confirmation that Vegas was the right decision, Friday night was it.

After the reception, we came home and finished Homeland. I can’t believe I have to wait for another season to see what happens. Eff you cliff-hangers. EFF YOU.

This morning, I met up with Michelle’s group for a chilly 11.5 mile run. My Garmin Forerunner 405 gave me a new reason to hate it by shutting down after 1 mile and not turning back on.

According to Michelle’s Garmin, I finished in just under 2 hours and my calf was not good. After awhile, my calf stopped hurting and the pain radiated up to my thigh. I’m so over my little running injuries. So, today I’m sucking it up and finally going somewhere to get my gait analyzed. I need to make sure it’s not my shoes causing all the random problems and trying to break up with me.

After the run, Michelle and I went to Starbucks for breakfast. We were so cold in our sweaty clothes that Michelle was more interested in snuggling her breakfast wrap for warmth than eating it.

She’s not posing. She did that for 5 minutes.

Now I’m off to do some errands and find out why running hates me so much.

  1. Ugh. That SO sucks. Have you done any foam rolling or taken a hot bath? That usually makes my legs happy when they’re acting up. Good luck–hope whoever analyzes you is helpful!!!

  3. Where do you go to get your gait analyzed? Like a PT? I constantly have mini running injuries and would love to get a real professional gait analysis. Like the pros get, since I’m totally almost a pro and all! Good luck, I hope they fix you!

    I’m so surprised about the Winter Park Farmer’s Market as a wedding venue! We didn’t look at it for ourselves but I know it’s super popular. Good to know about the train!

  11. Running hates me too right now. I did a long run yesterday and was in tears last night with the return of IT band issues. At least that’s what I think it is. To say I’m frustrated is an understatement.
    Hope it is just as simple as some new shoes for you, girl!
