TV Tuesday

I decided to do my tempo run last night instead of tonight. It wasn’t anything different than usual except I listened to music. I haven’t listened to music on a run since marathon training started. I usually watch TV or listen to myself cry until it’s over. My run looked like this:

Mile Pace Incline
1 10:00 .5
2 9:42 .5
3 9:31 .5
4 9:23 .5
Special “Meeting” Slow 0
Walk of shame back to the treadmill   0
5 9:14 .5

Total miles: 5.1

I ran 1 more mile after my “meeting.” Are you happy, Melissa? I wasn’t even going to put the details of my run in this post but I was kinda proud I got back on the treadmill when I usually walk out the  front door with my head down in shame.

I keep telling myself I’ll increase the incline and I never do. I was going to do another cool down mile but my right knee was feeling weird, so I stopped. I ran last night so I could go back to Crossfit tonight with my old trainer. We’ll see how that goes.

I haven’t done a TV Tuesday in forever. But since I’ve been watching a massive amount of TV lately, it seems appropriate. Hubs and I just finished season 1 of Spartacus Blood and Sand which I LOVED.

I loved it more than Game of Thrones. I mean, I know GoT is technically a better show, but I couldn’t wait to see the next episode with Spartacus and that was not the case with GoT.

Now, we’re almost done with Spartacus Gods of the Arena.

There’s only 6 episodes and Netflix Streaming is finally becoming useful with 3 of those episodes. Because it would be too much for Netflix Streaming to have all 6 episodes. People might actually like the service and want to pay for it then.

I like Gods of the Arena but not as much as Blood and Sand. It’s the story before Spartacus, so there’s no Spartacus. I miss him. 🙁 Also, the guy that’s Champion in this one looks like a confused Colin Farrell.

I do not like you!

Season 2 of Spartacus is filming with a new actor as the lead. I don’t know how I’ll feel without Andy Whitfield playing the lead. This is the new guy.

Hubs has assured me that I will want him to be one of my future husbands just like the last Spartacus, but I don’t know about that. I already think his left ear is too far away from his body, so I can’t imagine things getting better for him.

Good thing the fall TV season is starting, because I was looking for more ways to kill time and not get anything productive done. Welcome to my DVR:

And because we don’t sit on our butts enough and watch TV, we went to a movie over the weekend too.

Drive was really good. It had an 80’s feel to it but in a good way. There were a couple scenes that were a little long and uncomfortable between a few of the characters but other than that, I liked it.

What new shows are you watching this season? (I’m trying out Ringer, Secret Circle, and Happy Endings if I can figure out when that’s on.)

P.S. Thanks for all the compliments on my dress yesterday! I can’t take credit for it. It was a Christmas present from hubs last year.

  1. You know I really wanted to try “Ringer”…We sat through about half of the first episode and it was crap…too bad 🙁 Looking forward to the new season of Dexter though!

    • I’ve only gotten through half of first episode too! The jury is out for me. It’s not good but it’s not bad. I just love SMG so much I’ll give it a little more of a chance. 🙂

  2. You forgot The Big Bang Theory…

We have almost the exact same TV taste! 🙂 Like you, I’m excited for my DVR to explode!

I got to see Daniel Tosh when he came to my town…my friend works for the place he performed; so we got front row seats! He was hysterical–I actually asked my husband if he was going to have a heart attack because he was laughing so hard.

    • I would LOVE to see him but he didn’t tour anywhere near me. 🙁 We graduated from the same University, which I think is cool for no reason at all. 🙂

  3. Rachael @ Happy Healthy Runner

Happy Endings is on after Modern Family and I freaking love that show. Hilarious.

  4. I feel so out of the TV loop for some reason. I don’t really know anything about any of the new shows coming out. I’ll just have to randomly see what I end up watching! I am excited new shows are back. I was getting a little tired of Friends re-runs on DVR 😉

  5. You have to add New Girl!!! That one episode was so stinking funny!!
And Happy Endings isn’t bad, but it’s not spectacular. I tried watching The Ringer with Sarah Michelle Gellar the other night…. Yikes. I think I realized the reason she doesn’t work much anymore. Now I feel bad. Was that too harsh? Anyways, I wouldn’t recommend it.

  6. theAlmostRunner

I have to start watching Dexter. I can’t beLIEVE I haven’t started watching Dexter.

  7. New shows? I’m trying out Ringer, Person of Interest…. why am I drawing a TV blank here. I’m just so excited new TV is on… no clue when this running or studying is gonna happen now, I have more important things to watch.

  8. Nikki

Wait, I though ‘The New Girl’ was starting tonight? Did I already miss it? And I watched all of season 1 of Being Human, I forgot about it till now, did I miss the second season? Yeesh!

  9. I’m waiting to read Game of Thrones before I watch it because I’m an English nerd like that, but it sounds awesome. I think we might check out Spartacus now too. Did you ever watch Rome? That was another awesome historical fiction type piece – very awesome, lots of blood and stuff.

I’m loving that Parenthood is back this fall, and we’re currently working out way through season 7 of Entourage (catching up) and we’re on to season 3 of Sons of Anarchy. Love that show!

    • The in-laws own Season 1 of Rome, so we’ll probably watch that one too. I’ve heard Sons of Anarchy is good but haven’t seen that one yet. Might put that on the list!

  10. I am giving the Ringer a chance too! There is also that show with Rachel Bilson on it that I wanted to check out. Either way, I will be watching FAR TOO MUCH TV!

  11. Yes I am happy. And oh-so proud. Good girl!

I can’t wait for Cougar Town, either. Man, I always forget how much I like that show. Modern Family is a great one, too, and I am in love with How I Met Your Mother. I really want Up All Night to be good because I love Christina Applegate so. Also looking forward to Gossip Girl because it appeals to my inner bitchy tween. Ooh, and I love Fringe! Have you ever watched it? Very sci fi, but I love how it makes me think!

  12. Jane

I’m quite amused by how your pace improved after your “special meeting”. Did you really feel that much lighter? hehe

We just discovered “Psych” a few weeks ago, and are now trying to catch up on 3 seasons. We have very different tastes in TV, but I think crazy*running*legs watches it, so you might ask her opinion.

    • Special meetings do wonders for running pace. 🙂   And yes! Michelle loves Psych. I’ve seen maybe half of the first season? I liked it! Not sure why I didn’t keep watching.

  13. I love Happy Endings! Comic gold.

    I need a DVR. I can’t do the organization/scheduling/getting it all watched. I can’t do it alone!

  14. runderbykat

I seriously love reading about your special meetings while running. Yesterday I had a long special meeting after my run. Like, I needed a couple of hours of special meeting time. I don’t have that many followers yet so I don’t want to gross people out with my poop stories, but as soon as I get them hooked… you can bet I’ll be adding that into the blog.

  15. I have lots of shows I want to watch…and try to get back into or into…but it’s doubtful…I’ve become a lot used to not watching TV. Tho, I stop everything now to watch Dark Matters on Wed Night at 10pm.

Here’s my list of shows that I’d check out if we had a DVR here:
Destination Truth, Fact or Faked, Sanctuary*, Warehouse 13*, Haven, Unforgettable, Terra Nova, The Secret Circle*, Ringer, Playboy Club, Pan Am, Once Upon a Time*, New Girl, Grimm*, A Gifted Man, Big Bang Theory, Desperate Housewives*, Dexter (if I ever watch the first seasons), Supernatural*, The Vampire Diaries*, The Walking Dead (gotta watch 1st season yet), Chopped*, True Blood* (again if I could catch up, still on season 1), Simpsons, Futurama* (gotta watch the summer eps, saw most I think), Fringe* (have to catch up on this too), Through the Wormhole*, and likely other shows.
*Signifies the shows that I really want to try to watch anyway!

    Phew…..lol….

  18. Stefanie

I have been meaning to comment on your blog for some time now. But every time I’m reading your blog, I’m usually reading it on my phone, and commenting on my phone is just damn frustrating. Anyway. SUPERNATURAL IS GOING TO BE BACK FRIDAY!!!!!! And Tosh.0. Love. Speaking of, have you seen this?

    SAD DAY. Hahaha.
