Hill Street Blues

Workout: Ran outside (hills) 6.25 miles (10:37 pace)

I made it to San Diego in one piece and it’s been busy, busy, busy since I got here. This morning, I got up early and ran outside around my mom’s house. Took a few pictures along the way. It doesn’t suck to have this view a few steps from your place, that’s for sure.

The whole run felt like it was uphill. I mean, with all the uphill, there had to be a downhill somewhere but I didn’t see it. The hills almost killed me.

It was nice to take advantage of the cool weather and no humidity, because this will be the last time I see it until December. <—- Boo Florida

At the end of my run, I realized I was running on this street.

I can’t say I wasn’t warned.

I’ll have to do a weekend recap next post since I haven’t had much time to blog while I’ve been here. Now it’s time to take a shower and get ready to head out with my Mom. We are going to satisfy my inner tourist by taking the train downtown to explore and then heading over to Balboa Park.

Any good lunch places in downtown San Diego?

What’s there to do at Balboa Park? (I hope everyone is dressed like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky there otherwise that park name is just a cruel joke.)

Bucca di beppo downtown is really good Italian food!!! HUGE portions!! 🙂 and depending on what you are in the mood for, Rei Do Gado is good too! It’s a brazillian steakhouse! 🙂

Bring your camera to balboa park. Lots of photo ops. There are some museums and stuff but it is mostly just a really beautiful place to walk around. If you are feeling nerdy go to the Reuben h fleet space and science center. It’s really cool for the geeks like me!! :))

  2. That is one huge hill!! Lol, way to go you for running that! Have fun!

  3. Hills suck. You should come run in West Texas. There isn’t much of a hill for many many miles! : )

I don’t know doodly about San Diego, so no tips from me. Looks so cool, though! I guess you have to tough it out through some hills in order to get the awesome view, right? Have fun!

  5. when i first moved to providence lots of the streets had names like “hill” “overhill” “summit” etc. they made me shudder every time i turned onto one of them!

  6. It’s been many years since I’ve been there but I think the restaurant we ate at, where they shot the Top Gun-Great-Balls-of-Fire-Piano scene, has pretty good food. The name of the place? No idea! haha Glad I could be of so much help! 🙂

So which is better, hills and nice CA weather or flat and suck ass FL weather?

  7. Beautiful pictures! I would love to live in San Diego, & the husband & I toss the idea around all the time. Especially in the fall, winter, & spring when the weather in Seattle is sketchy.
    Have a great trip!

The Prado is a great restaurant inside Balboa Park. Especially if you’re getting sangria/cocktails/alcoholic beverages with your lunch. I realize that is not downtown but you said Balboa Park and my head went straight to the Prado’s sangria. Yes at 11 am on a Monday.

  10. Come back already! I am going through a hilarious Paula post withdrawal!
