New Stuff!

Things I learned after my martial arts cardio class last night:

  • I can carry my husband on my back down an incline. (Not recommended)
  • I can squat friends down an incline.

Second bullet recommended if they are little and cute like this:

By the way, no one should be able to look like that when they have 4 young children. It’s just not fair. I want to be Tina when I grow up.

Oh, and I totally stole that from her Facebook page so I hope she doesn’t kill me.

After class (which was awesome by the way), I started sneezing more than normal. Then during the night I woke up with a sore throat. After my alarm went off this morning, I fell back asleep and didn’t wake up again until the hub’s alarm went off almost 30 minutes later.

Not good my homies. Not good.

I rarely get sick, but when I do, the timing is usually REALLY awesome. And by awesome, I mean crappy. I have a half marathon this Sunday. I will walk that bitch if I have to, to get my last pretty medal of the season. Or maybe a cold is just what I need to speed me up. Hellllllo Dayquil!

Anyway, to my 5 males readers…if you want to check out now and come back next post, I won’t blame you. Things are about to get girly.

By the way, if any of you want to use a taser and look stylish while doing it:

Ok, onto the girly stuff. I gave it the “3 day waiting period” and I finally broke down and bought this stuff from Old Navy.

I bought it online of course, because God forbid I go into a store. I hate shopping, but I love buying things. I don’t know how I lived without the Internet in the past.

Jersey Knit Maxi Dress: $39.94
Not cheap. And a girl with my hips shouldn’t really wear something like this but I don’t care. It’s cute. And I will find a way to rock it.

Ruffle-tiered top: $29.50
Again, not cheap, especially for Old Navy. This is SO far off from my personal style I can’t even begin to tell you. But I think that’s why I wanted it. I want to change things up a bit and I can totally see J’s Everyday Fashion in this and that made me want it to. 🙂

Sports Bra: $7.00!!
May or may not be padded. *shifty eyes* I have 3 of these already and they are the most comfortable sports bras I’ve ever worn. I always wear this one in races.

 A-Line Skirt: $24.94
I didn’t buy this one, but I just saw it today. So consider this one on the 3 day waiting period.

Does anyone else wait before they make purchases to make sure they really want them? I feel like buying clothes is like buying guns for me. Except, I’m gonna shoot you with my awesome style! (Sorry. Some lame jokes can’t be contained.)

  1. Such cute purchases!!! Padded sports bra? THATS WHAT I NEED!!!!!! 🙂 Hope you feel better! Nyquil works pretty well! Plus you will sleep sooooo well!!!

  2. theAlmostRunner

did you buy the bra from old navy too? GIRL I LOVE OLD NAVY SPORTS BRAS! ok, they make me excited. everyone can get over it.

  3. tra

OMG i do that all the time! i pull the “i’ll wait for it to go on sale/i’ll wait on it and think about it”. and then it either is still there or disappears!! LOL!!!

  4. What a rip off. I think you should have been modelling all apparel (with or with out the padding). I am one of the 5 guys so, what did you expect?

I am a tight wad so I always wait and wait and wait before I buy.

    • Alright, I can’t disappoint the male demographic. Maybe once I get them in the mail, I’ll do a fabulously girly modeling post.

  5. I totally wait before I buy things and weigh the pros and cons for a few days to make sure I’m making the right decision. Apparently, in my mind, all sales are final there is no such thing as a return.

  6. I love the dress and the shirt. I’m in the mood to shop for summer clothes. If only I was not so stinkin’ pale! Some sunless tanner is a must!

  7. Unfortunately I just buy things. Constantly. Oh well.
I guess that’s my one fault, because otherwise I’m perfect.

    Right? (:

  8. I once ran a half marathon in a dayquil induced haze and PR’d by 5 minutes. Totally doable 🙂

I love the new clothes!! I hate shopping so I stay as far away from malls as possible and am never in style. At least I have cute athletic gear!

  9. Great blog! And thanks for the distraction – I’m supposed to be working, but totally just diverted my focus to trolling Old Navy’s website looking for that tiered top. It’s a novelty – Canadians have only been able to order online from Old Navy in the past few months.

Sad that I can’t follow you on Google . I added you to my favorites in my running blog folder so that will just have to do.

    • I am happy to be a part of your running blog folder! Although, I added myself to my Google Reader and can see everything ok. So that’s strange. I should be working too…but instead I’ll check out your blog. 🙂

  10. I wait! that would be why I went to Old Navy THREE times last week. Cute purchases!!
I think your new hair cut is cute! Don’t stress! It always grows back and you can try something else!

  11. Brandiosa

New to your blog and love it! Back to your skinny friend- WTH? I have ONE kid and never look cute and well rested like that. Please tell me how I can make that happen. Grrr…

  12. Stephanie@MyThornsHaveRoses

Hahaha. I love that your friend has 4 kids and looks stellar! I say the more kids you have sometimes the skinnier you get depending on how much they run around or how fatty they are as babies. I used to have killer guns just from carrying the big babies everywhere. 🙂

Your lame jokes crack me up. I definitely re-visit my purchase choices. Usually the next day even I’m all—“what the hell were you thinking?”–to myself. 🙂

    • Yes! My friend Michelle is her thinnest after she has kids (2 so far). I like to think of her as the “Heather Locklear” of my friends minus the crazy part. 🙂 Heather Locklear was basically back to her hot bod the day after giving birth.

  13. I love the ruffly top!! I do the same thing, and so does my sister. When we were talking about the self-imposed waiting period for shopping around our mom and other sister though, they thought we were weird (but really, we think they’re weird!). Hahah. It’s seriously essential – otherwise I would end up unhappy with so many purchases and just end up returning stuff.

P.S. Sorry for posting twice – I put my email as my name in the last one, oops! You can delete that one!!

    • Done and done! 🙂 Even when I wait…I still end up returning stuff. But mostly because I like online shopping and hate trying things on. THIS is when a shopping-loving twin me would come in handy!

  14. That dress is adorable!! I was searching for sundresses online yesterday and didn’t find anything that cute. Not that I actually plan on purchasing anything, no clothes shopping allowed for me:( I don’t mean to be creepy, but I’d like to see it on you too. I feel like I can never pull off long dresses.
    Hope you feel better!!

  15. i may or may not want a(nother) padded sports bra. and very cut skirt! i try to wait on purchases. and i’m mostly successful with that. it’s easier when i’m at a store to be $$ frugal because when i walk away i have to really want it to come back. i try to avoid internet shopping for that reason.

  16. I have just joined the millions of online shoppers this year. ANd I LOVEEEE it. I fill my online cart with all my wishes then check out with maybe one item!!! But its the best. I HATE trying on clothes!

I totally wait. Especially when making a large purchase. I will go home and see if I have a dream about it. If i do (yes it does happen) i go back and get it.

  17. Love the new clothes, especially the dress, so cute! I almost never buy new clothes, unless they are for running – I have a friend who has a huge wardrobe, and she’s my size, and she likes to share. Getting sick before a race is my biggest fear, that sucks! I’m sorry!
